Verburg’s Untitled Relationship #1 is a multimedia installation that explores the hidden, suppressed and layered aspects of interpersonal relationships. Through text and photography a story is slowly revealed. However, the use of grey text layered over a black and white image, and the placement of a fluorescent light adjacent to the work, inhibits the viewers’ attempts to decipher a narrative that addresses concealment and denial.
