Portrait Study |
Individual portrait series on monitors (or as projections) exhibited in public spaces around the city during a film festival (storefront windows, town hall, lobby of the cinema). Each playing a loop of thousands of still images of a single person. Accompanying the video projections is a black and white newsprint publication of images of the person. Four different (one for each person) publications stacked near the motion sequences. The installations are an examination of the images in-between the posed (chosen or final) photograph, using the combination of thousands of images from individual photographic sessions. In observing the expressions in between, the viewer has an opportunity to visually "listen", observe the nuances in expression and feel something for the subject rather than just passively look at a single image. The public display of private glances - images of beautiful men in a context other than fashion and advertising. |
