I see you all the time is multi media production that acts as an introspective visual metaphor and enquiry into the positive and negative aspects of observing the same person on a daily basis. Using projected image sequences, photographs, photocopies, and text, Verburg explores the daily repetitive nature of intimate relationships, focusing on his own personal long term romantic relationship. In I see you all the time, the subject becomes iconic, generating a tension between intimacy and alienation; the image-maker simultaneously becomes closer and more distant from his image, from his significant Other. Examining the medium’s capacity to both represent and interpret the subject, the artist consequently realizes a personal meditation on photography and the fragility of romance. Verburg connects the personal, symbolic, and ephemeral, inherent in the medium and material to reflect upon the mundane and beautiful patterns within romantic relationships.
